Digital Innovation Contest- Culture Final - RESULTS!

The Digital Innovation Contest - Culture Final took place at the Design Museum in Central London on the 16th of May. The judges have made their decisions and have selected the winning application for each challenge. Below displays the name and description of the challenge, and details about the winner.

National Museums of Scotland: An innovative approach to the use of location within a gallery environment, engaging visitors to explore the gallery environment in a new way.

Winner : Capture the Museum, Thought Den Ltd

Description : Crack the Mummy’s Code. Fight for territory! In Capture the Museum your camera phone is the key. What adventures will it unlock?

Birmingham Museums and Art Gallery: An application that raises awareness and links up multi-site or clusters of galleries and museums and reaches new audiences. 

Winner : The Orbital, The Connected Set

Description : An exciting treasure hunt linking all 9 BMAG museums-packed with fun & rewards to drive visitors to all 9 sites over 9 months

British Museum: The development of an application or service that enables independent publishers to easily incorporate online cultural information into their own digital content.

Winner : Showcasing Items in the British Museum's collection - IPL

Description : A tool which allows digital publishers to use the museum’s content for free, but generates revenue through advertising.

International Slavery Museum/National Museums of Liverpool: A forum driven service that enables museum and gallery curators to post questions and themes and catalyse comments and discussions globally through an automated filtering system.

Winner : Social Culture Interaction Platform, Red Ninja Studios 

Description : The creation of a custom content management platform that collects data from Twitter and categorises, moderates and analyses.

The New Art Gallery Walsall: An accessible and playful application that encourages visitors to explore the relationship between exhibitions and archives. 

Winner : The Epstein Mysteries, The Connected Set 

Description : Explores art, archive & video in an enthralling mobile mission to uncover the shocking truth about Jacob Epstein

SPACE: A mapping tool that highlights the location of emerging artists and the potential spaces that support and showcase emerging art practice.

WinnerElexu Maps -  Elexu Portfolio

Description : Elexu Maps helps artists find opportunities to showcase and commercialise their talents by connecting with brands and fans via their mobiles.

Winner : A stickyworld visual forum, StickyWorld Ltd

Partner: Stickyworld have chosen to work with The Wallace Collection. 

Description : Immersive visual forum that makes better use of visual assets to drive topic related dialogue posting comments to Twitter and liking in Facebook.

Winner : Damibu's Custom Tour of Sites,  Damibu Ltd

Partner: Damibu have chosen to work with the National Museums of Liverpool

Description : A smart phone application that maximises a visitor’s limited time by calculating a optimum tour of the Birmingham Museums Trust sites

The RNIB will be working with selected applicants going forward to help improve the accessability of their applications.
